Grace Angel Ramos, a young girl living in the Philippines, was diagnosed with congenital heart block (CHB), a life-threatening condition that causes skin rashes, liver abnormalities and damaged blood cell development. CHB is rare and affects only 1 to 5 percent of babies born to women with systematic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Because of this condition, Grace had to undergo surgery when she was just a newborn to have a pacemaker implanted in her heart. Six years later, the pacemaker needed replacement, and her family was faced with having to fund another critical and expensive operation.
With very limited financial options, Grace Angel's family began looking for a sponsor to fund the replacement procedure. The Nu Skin Southeast Asia Children's Heart Fund heard about Grace's situation and partnered with the Philippine General Hospital to provide the financial support for her operation to occur. Today, Grace Angel has a new pacemaker for her heart, is as joyful as ever and is extremely thankful for Nu Skin's helping hand.
