Creating Smiles Around the Globe with Force for Good Day
Nu Skin celebrated its 12th annual Force for Good Day in markets around the globe with employees and sales leaders volunteering for worthwhile service projects that benefited children of all ages, the disabled and the elderly. The following highlights a few ways the Nu Skin family united worldwide to create smiles by serving those most in need.
Canada – Nu Skin Canada employees are assembling 500 lunches and will travel to Toronto for the second consecutive year to feed homeless people lunch. The market is also hosting DEBRA Families at the Mississauga Office for its 3rd annual Good Butterfly Day Event. This event is designed to raise awareness about the life-threatening skin condition, Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) and provide support and comfort to families suffering from the disease.
United States – Nu Skin Enterprises is being honored by the Governor’s Office with a Utah State Declaration for its Force for Good Day and is celebrating by teaming up with Intermountain Healthcare, United Way of Utah County and Downtown Provo. The collaborative effort includes a special signing of the Declaration, assembling 10,000 kids care bags, making 200 fleece quilts, collecting 3,000 children’s books and DVDs and cleaning 12 city blocks of downtown Provo.
Latin America - Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation, in partnership with Charity Vision, provided free eye screening for 3,000 children in Cartagena and Barranquilla in Colombia. Eye glasses were also given to children who needed corrective lens by Universidad del SINU.
GC, Hong Kong and Taiwan – Nu Skin Greater China, Hong Kong and Thailand are sponsoring a second-hand clothing drive. The cloths will then be sold in charity shops that aimed at encouraging people to recycle resources and reduce carbon emission and are staffed by the disabled. The reselling revenue of the charity shops will then be used to cover the salaries of the disabled staff, operation costs, and funding to help more disabled people.
Australia - Nu Skin Australia volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House Westmead, currently supporting families at the local Westmead Children’s Hospital in Sydney. The team rolled up their sleeves to clean the entire House and assist with a fundraiser to help support further development of the House. The team raised AU$1,150 for the House and donated hampers of Nu Skin products.
Belgium - Nu Skin employees planned some exciting activities to help raise money for the Belgian charity, Moeders voor Moeders (mothers with young children who live in poverty). All proceeds from the events were donated towards helping this organization by providing fitted sheets for single and double beds and beddings, bath and kitchen towels, various baby items and school supplies.
Germany – EVENT IS SEPT. 5, 2015 - Nu Skin Germany is supporting the local Frankfurt association Cancer Aid For Children at its charity concert Sound of Life. This charity festival is organized by children, youths and young adults who are suffering from cancer and was founded in 2010 by Janna Rupprecht who also suffered from cancer and unfortunately passed away in September 2014 at the age of 22. All proceeds from the event will be donated to “Cancer Aid For Children” who will surprise children suffering from cancer with trips and presents.
Hungary - Nu Skin employees aimed to make children’s life better by continuing work they started last year with renovating a children’s sports club in Budapest by painting fencing and instructing the children on how to live an active and healthy lifestyle.
New Zealand – Nu Skin New Zealand catered a nutritious lunch for families, providing ready meals that families could even take home. These families have children currently undergoing treatment at the nearby Starship Hospital Intensive Care Unit in Auckland.
Russia - Nu Skin employees provided toys, books, Nu Skin products, table games and candy for children in a Moscow boarding school. Company employees also cleaned school grounds and painted curbs and trees.
South Africa - Nu Skin South Africa has partnered with the Kids Haven Shelter in Benoni Gauteng to help educate and rehabilitate children living and working on the streets and reintroduce them into society.
Indonesia - Nu Skin Indonesia plans to bring Box of Smiles for children living in 10 remote or isolated areas with limited access to school. Each Box of Smiles will contain reading and drawing books, crayons and educational toys. To access the children, we will work with a local non-profit organization to conduct the program in selected locations in the country, targeting areas that are not well facilitated near to the locations of our Showcase and Walk-in Centers.
Malaysia - Nu Skin Malaysia organized a Nature Hunt Day Out with 12 of its sponsored children from the Southeast Asia Children’s Heart Fund, joining with 12 members from the board to enjoy a healthy day out with a picnic at the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM).
Pacific – Nu Skin Pacific Region employees are volunteering to provide administrative support, housekeeping, gardening and general maintenance of the Ronald McDonald House that supports children who are undergoing treatment at the local Westmead Children’s Hospital.
Philippines – Nu Skin Philippines employees and sales leaders took part in the Force for Good Tulong Balik Eskwela 2015 - a school supplies drive that benefitted children diagnosed with life-threatening congenital heart disease.
Singapore - Nu Skin Singapore employees and sales leaders celebrated the company’s 15th anniversary by visiting Trick Eye Museum with 40 chronically ill children from Club Rainbow Singapore.
Thailand - Nu Skin Thailand sponsored several children’s participation in KidZania, an indoor theme park that provides a realistic educational environment in a makeshift city built to scale for children between the ages of four to 12 to do what comes naturally to them: role-playing by mimicking traditionally adult professions. Nu Skin Thailand also presented the foundation $265,000 donation.
Vietnam - Nu Skin Vietnam is bringing cheer and gift bags to 100 children with heart defects at Nhi Dong 1 Pediatric Hospital.
Japan - Nu Skin Japan is sponsoring the Kits for Kids Project to create 3,000 stationery sets, which will be delivered to children at all the 17 elementary schools in Kesennuma City, Miyagi, as part of the company’s support effort for the areas affected by the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake. Nu Skin distributors and employees will work together in all the Experience Centers across Japan (Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka) and prepare the kits of six kinds of stationery goods to create smiles for the children. Those kits are going to be delivered by Second Harvest Japan in July.
