SAFI Family Enjoys Learning New Farming Techniques

Learning modern farming techniques from the School of Agriculture for Family Independence (SAFI) has given Sandifolo, 33, and his wife, Tereza, 28, a renewed sense of independence and confidence in their abilities to provide for their 5-year-old son, Yohane. The couple hails from the Dowa District of Malawi and believes they will be able to provide enough funding to send their son to college some day from implementing year-round, sustainable farming. They are also optimistic that Yohane has a bright employment future as an adult from SAFI education that has piqued his interest in math and science.

Sandifolo and Tereza are grateful they have acquired skills to increase their harvests three-fold of maize, groundnuts and soy beans on their two acres of property. They are particularly appreciative for information they didn’t know before about fish farming, drip irrigation, forest conservation, tree farming and animal husbandry as they keep chickens and use them and their eggs for food.

The Juma family has pledged to share their newfound knowledge with others in their community when they complete their training at SAFI, and they thank Nu Skin’s Force for Good Foundation for making a difference in their lives.
