Seacology Updates Two Island Schools
The Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation continues its ongoing partnership with Seacology to improve the education and environment of young islanders. This year, two communities will benefit from educational advancements funded by grants from the Foundation to Seacology. In exchange for updated educational facilities the island communities of Wanang and Ketei agree to environmental preservation.
Wanang, Papua New Guinea opened its first primary school in 2009-2010. Currently four teachers and 150 students are housed in classrooms built of temporary bush materials. Sadly, two of the school buildings were destroyed in a 2010 flood and a permanent classroom is needed.
The Wanang community proposes to double the size of the conservation area to 5,436-acres in return for a much needed, permanent classroom facility. Seacology will provide the funds for the construction of the school.
In Ketei, Fiji, Seacology is working to add necessary renovations to the local community center in exchange for an extended duration of protection of a 900-acre forest reserve. The addition of bathroom facilities during renovation will enable the community hall to also be used as a kindergarten for the Ketei village, as well as the surrounding communities.
Seacology and the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation are proud to be a force for good and enhance the education and environment of the worldwide community.
